Jaundice
Zoey had a short fight against Jaundice a yellowing of the skin beginning at the head and eventually leading to the feet. It is caused by an immature liver and is common in most newborns. Our doctor was concerned for Zoey because is was rising fast, she prescribed a light treatment called a bili-blanket. Zoey used the biliblanket until her biliruben levels were below 10 ug/ml, after they had reached as high as 18 ug/ml. Danielle and I joked about the tail she had, or that she was our "Matrix" baby as the tail that went to the biliblanket was always connected to her and the main box.
